![]() Asbury Park is a beautiful "City by the Sea", which sits right on the Atlantic Ocean in Monmouth County, NJ. It has much Natural and Man Made Beauty, here for everyone to share. If you have lots of Money, that is! Since the 1970's, Asbury Park saw a vast downturn in it's Cultural Equality, and has been left with an over 60% True Poverty Rate, which now affects mostly our People of Ethnic diversity & color. In the African American Community, men from the ages of 18 to 30 have a current Unemployment Rate of approximately 50%, which is unheard of in any "Civil" Society in the World. Since the 2000's ushered in the age of the recent "Waterfront Redevelopment", in just three years starting in 2002, the average Rents that People pay for a one bedroom apartment had risen from $ 550 to over $ 800, an increase of 69%. And today, after the recession slowed down Rent Increases temporarily (A breath of fresh air for a few years), the average rent for the same one bedroom is now $ 950. These unbelievable and constant increases in Rents has caused what Legal Services of NJ calls "The New Affordable Housing", Overcrowding, with an average occupancy in these "Low Income" one bedrooms now at 5 people! It is neither Healthy or Safe, and leads to more uncomfortableness, agitation & despair within the Lives of the African American & Hispanic populace of Poor People here, who add up to most of the 60% now Living in "True Poverty." They NEED a lot of HELP, and Back Home Again is here to try and provide that exact type of help which they are yearning for, but it is NOT easy to do! That's why we need YOU, the Other People, Other Non-Profit Organizations and Corporations, the County, State & Federal Government .... ALL of you to Help US to help the chronically Poor People suffering daily in the City of Asbury Park. And they have consistently NOT received the necessary help from the City, who, with the swipe of a Pen, could easily enact Rent Control, which 120 other Cities, Townships and Burroughs already have, today, in New Jersey. |
